Carnival to Cruise Year-Round from Charleston
Release Date: 9/17/2009
For the first time in its history, the Port of Charleston, South Carolina will be the home port for the Carnival Fantasy. Starting on May 18, 2010, local travelers will have an opportunity to cruise year-round from a close-to-home location. Carnival Fantasy will sail a series of 5, 6 and 7 night sailings visiting Freeport, Nassau, Grand Turk, Key West and Half Moon Cay, a private island.
“This is a significant development,” explains Gary Silverstein, owner of Mann Travels, “because Charlotte residents have never before had a year-round, drive-to port to sail from.”
“This is a clear indication that the cruise industry is reinvesting in this area and that the economy can support a year-round presence in Charleston,” Silverstein added. Prior to this announcement, Carnival sailed from Charleston only twice a year.
To support a year-round sailing from Charleston in addition to the many port calls other cruise lines make, the City of Charleston recently announced a major overhaul of the passenger terminal built in 1971.
Mann Travels is working closely with Carnival Cruises to make sure we have the best prices available on this ship. Mann Travels is creating a priority list so people interested in sailing on the Carnival Fantasy will be able to book as soon as the sailings are open for sale. Interested individuals should contact their local Mann Travels office to sign up for this list.
Mann Travels is the largest privately owned travel agency in the Carolinas and has been serving travelers since 1979.
